oh... uh... geez, that was pretty dark haha.

man, this game has such a good atmosphere. the combination of the black and white aesthetic, the calming but super eerie music, the cool as hell artstyle... it all just grabbed me from second one and didn't let go. thumbs up all around on the presentation.

the story was... REALLY effective tbh. the way each day progressed and how little details piled up and subtly told more of the protagonist's story was great. i ended up feeling really sad for him, and the whole game had such a melancholic feel that's hard to accurately portray, even with a story like this, but it's done great justice here. even more so with the really good writing and word choice in a lot of parts. and i love how it's not really clear what was real and what wasn't. (KINDA SPOILERS) it was, like i said, really melancholic... up until the end where everything went "HOLY FUCKING SHIT" in mere seconds and the feeling of sheer dread i had during that entire final part was just *chef kiss*.

and i know i've already mentioned the art, but wow it's really really freaking good. (SPOILERS) from the images of trees that can't be distinguished from mr long legs'... legs, to the blurry faces of the bullies that then morph into horrifying abominations, all the way from mr long legs himself and his creepy as hell mask... there's a lot of talent and work put into the art here, and it pays off wonderfully.

in terms of complaints, there were some grammar mistakes that, for the record don't bother me too much in general, but i thought i'd mention it. and there were some segments where text messages skipped or repeated themselves, and a lot of parts where there was no text at all. idk if that's because of fonts, colored text or what. and hey, some people in the comments said they were encountering soft-locking bugs and i could finish the game perfectly well, so props for taking criticism and fixing glitches!

overall this was a really good story told in a really effective way, and what more could you ask for in a horror game?

Thank you for all the kind words! I really did try my best to portray Timmy's life as a neglected and bullied child accurately, without being over-the-top. Everything in the story-- supernatural happening excluded-- is based off of things that really happened to me or my friends when we were little.

Though I must tell you that the skipped and repeated text was actually a stylistic choice! It's supposed to make the player feel off-put and uncomfortable, a subtle warning that shit's about to get weird.

oooh i didn't even consider it was done intentionally haha. honestly that's a pretty cool detail!

and sheesh, sorry to hear you and your friends had to go through things similar to these :( hope you're all doing better now!

Hi! I think something went wrong with your windows extract? It says it has 0 bytes, and downloading it gives me an empty file ^^'

...huh! that has never happened with my games before. I have no idea what caused that. I'll try to fix that when I have the time.

Hey! I love the look of this, really stoked to give it a go. I unfortunately got almost immediately stuck. Seems like a misplaced tree perhaps? It feels like I'm supposed to be able to go through here but am unable.

shit

.

It should be fixed now! sorry, I had made the trees impassable to prevent a different bug-- totally having forgotten about that first section.

No worries!! If you want to, think about joining the Discord for the jam! Super friendly community, you can get more resources for playtesting and bug fixes etc etc. Pretty active community and I've learned buckets of things since I joined. I was just talking about this game and that bug and I guessed the tree thing being switched was the reason haha. Super reasonable and easy thing to miss. Really stoked to see the rest of it, your art looks super freaky and cool. I'll finish it up later tonight!!

I think I've found a bug;; when standing in this area after the hide-and-seek message plays, the player is stuck and nothing happens ;w;

also, I'm sorry, I've run into another issue- when going into the forest on day two, if you use the mouse click option to guide the character into the forest instead of use the directional keys, there's a soft-lock that happens (assuming because the character wasn't properly lined up at the right tile) ; _ ; (edit) Soft locking as in, the screen stays black and doesn't progress.

yeahhh.... I'd disable the mouse movement if I knew how to.  :(

too late on that, but:

This game was pretty neat, really liked the music! Did you make the music for this game or do you know where I might be able to find the songs? Cuz the theme that played when you walked through the forest was real nice. Good work dude, hope you make more stuff in the future!

hihi!!! I did throw together about half of the tracks , using an old toy piano, various sound effects from the internet, and samples from the songs The Mind Electric by Miracle Musical and Ruler of Everything by Tally Hall!

Though I thhhiiinnkkk the one you enjoyed was Town Theme 4, which came free with my license for RPG Maker MZ, pitched down by 60%

And I do agree, it sounds really nice!

I just saw the words Tally Hall and now really want to play the game.

All according to plan >:]

i'm not sure where i'm supposed to look for coat...

in the classrooms

they are as empty as they can be🙃
I mean there are no obviously-interactive objects. Wandering there and clicking every pixel is very tiresome... It's just my opinion, sorry if it's rude. Other than that this game is amazing🖤

augh, I should have made the desks easier to make out, my bad. Let me fix that actually.

ok, should be easier to make out where to click, now. you search by clicking the chairs.

i already found it and finished the game, but glad it helped:3 Is there only 1 ending?

I'm glad you enjoyed the game! and yes, only one ending :3
